Activities in Wherwell Over Christmas

December 11th A very well supported carol service and lessons.

December 15th. Chant Close residents and friends had a Christmas dinner at the White Lion.

December 18th The family nativity was enjoyed bya lot of participation from the congregation. Mary and Joseph were much admired.

December 22nd A party of 30 adults and children set off around Wherwell to sing carols accompanied on the key board by Sue. We had refreshments at Dancing Ledge and finished with drinks in the White Lion. £250 was collected for Chernobyl Children.

December 24th Forty eight parents and children came to the Crib Service.

December 25th A large congregation of Parents and children came for Carols around the crib and shared their toys with Errol.

January 5th. Fifty went to Salisbury Playhouse to see Cinderella. Phyllis would like to thank all those who have supported her in this for the last forty plus years. Please support whoever organises it in the future. Just a thought I found a reference from the 1970’s when to see Cinderella the cost was 90p.

This year 2006 it was £15.

Wherwell Open Gardens

Wherwell Open Gardens takes place annually on the last
Sunday in June, which
this year happens to fall on the 25th. It began as an
idea more than 10
years ago and has continued to develop as the
principle money raising event
for the Village Hall. It has been staunchly supported
by a very generous
nucleus of residents over this period and the Hall
committee are indebted to
them. However the time has come to ring the changes a
little and try to give
some of these generous folk a break - so we are
appealing to anyone who
would like to offer to open their garden for a couple
of hours or so on this
particular Sunday afternoon. By doing so, you will
know that you are helping
to support one of our valuable and ever diminishing
village assets.
Be assured however, there is no requirement to be an
avid gardener, knowing
all there is to know about plants - indeed some of our
supporters profess to
know very little about what is growing in their garden
at all, only that
they like it and cherish it. Your garden can be big or
small but as long as
you love it, someone else will find it interesting
too. Although some of our
gardeners like to exchange knowledge with visitors it
is by no compulsory!
Indeed some actually go away for the day leaving just
the garden gate open.
Our small team will be moving around during the course
of the afternoon
keeping an eye on proceedings and assisting where
necessary.
So, if you are interested or want to discuss it
further please contact any
