The Mayfly,Testcombe

The Mayfly is the only pub around Chilbolton which has frontage to the Test, and what a frontage it has. The riverside area is great for drinkers or diners, a chance to watch the river and feed the fish. Whether you want a Danish, a three course meal or just a coffee Barry and Julie and their staff are there to help.

Set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside the pub is a haven for walkers, cyclists and those who prefer just to relax in beautiful surroundings. Across the river is the Test Way, a flat and easy walk along the route of the disused Spratt and Winkle railway line. Or for those wanting far reaching views there are the nearby Iron Age forts at Danebury and Stockbridge Down or closer to home there is Chilbolton Down. Children and dogs are always welcome.

Proprietors, Barry and Julie Lane, have run the Mayfly since 1986 and have recently overseen a complete refurbishment inside and out. So if you want to sip a Pimms on the riverside terrace in the summer or drink a warming glass of red wine by one of the wood burning stoves in the cosy bar in the winter this is the place for you.

The newly built conservatory offers refined dining facilities with a wide range of food being available. Practice the art of total relaxation alongside the Test and visit the Mayfly.

Open from 10.00am, the bar opens at 11.00 to 11.30pm, food is served every day 11.30 to 9.00pm.
