Honey

Jolyon and Jennie Pope have had an interest in bees and honey for many years. The bees, which produce the famous Chilbolton Honey, are either in hives adjoining the Smokery or in others which travel around depending upon circumstances. In all there are approximately 20 hives, give or take. The bees, of which there can be 50,000 per hive can travel as much as 5 miles a day to collect pollen and nectar. The honey is collected twice a year and sold from Gandolfo, Jolyon’s house opposite the Abbots Mitre. Keeping bees and producing honey is very much a hobby for Jolyon and John Fry but it is tremendous fun and the end result gives considerable pleasure to all their customers
