The school was opened in 1929 and is a co-educational, non-denominational school catering for children from four to eleven years of age.  Situated on an attractive spacious site with a large playing field and play area, it benefits from a nature area with a pond and picnic tables for class and playtime use.  The children also enjoy an adventure playground.  There are separate toilet facilities for infants and juniors.

All children are encouraged to use a well-stocked school library with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books.  Many books in the library are specifically chosen to support course work.

The new buildings, opened by Mary Fagan, the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, on the 21st September 2005 will provide three new classrooms, two tutorial rooms and an ICT room.
The new facilities will now make it possible to install the latest ICT systems. These new systems, which will include mobile laptops interconnected (RF) to interactive whiteboards, colour printers and controlling server, will be progressively integrated into each classroom to make available the latest information technology to all pupils in support of their day-to-day work and other creative activities.

  • to help children acquire the confidence and skills necessary to equip them for life;
  • to teach children consideration for others and the importance of working together;
  • to help children develop Christian values and to learn respect for the views and beliefs of others;
  • to create a partnership between children, parents and staff;
  • to maintain close links with the community.

The School philosophy - summed up by this poem:

Children Learn What They Live

If a child lives with criticism
She learns to condemn
If a child lives with hostility
He learns to fight
If a child lives with ridicule
She learns to be shy
If a child lives with shame
He learns to be guilty
If a child lives with tolerance
She learns to be patient
If a child lives with encouragement
He learns confidence

  If a child lives with praise
  She learns to appreciate
  If a child lives with fairness
  He learns justice
  If a child lives with security
  She learns to have faith
  If a child lives with approval
  He learns to be himself
  If a child lives with acceptance and friendship
  He or she learns to find love in the world.

Special Educational Needs

The governing body strongly supports the entry of children with learning or physical difficulties and every effort is made to accommodate their special needs.  Children with special needs can normally be offered extra help through classwork in small groups or on a one to one basis.

Occasionally children experience real difficulties in their behaviour or their learning.  When this happens parents are consulted and further advice can be sought from the Educational Psychology Service or other specialist agencies.

Our aim is to provide for the individual needs of children.  Parents can obtain a copy of the school’s special needs policy from the school office.
